Assafou Association was originally established to address the challenges and difficulties local children face as they reach school age. Children in the Al-Haouz region, who grow up in berber-speaking households, often struggle during their first years of formal education because of the language barrier.
To address this concern, over the years, Assafou Association, through the generosity of its donors and partners has built several educational centers/pre-schools in the Atlas villages with the objective to better prepare children for a successful start through targeted programs and activities in the Arabic language.
As active members of society, women have an important role to play in preserving the region’s cultural heritage, protecting the environment, and promoting the economic development of the region.
To facilitate the integration of rural women, and ensure their effective contribution, the Association has put in place training programs, professional workshops, and literacy classes. The Associations also provides women with the material, equipment, and any other support they need to produce, to organize, and to sell their products.
To foster social interactions between tourists and local populations; provide locals with economic opportunities; allow for knowledge sharing to promote sustainable development.
Using solidarity tourism, Assafou, together with other partners, was able to build 10 Rural Educational centers to support preschool children, and women.
Assafou has hosted several students and tourists from US,UK, Germany, and other countries. They have contributed to the building and/or maintenance of its educational centers.
Assafou provides international students with opportunities to contribute and learn in a safe and structured environment
